Fantasy Freedom

The Complete Guide

Every feature, explained in depth. Use the table of contents to jump around.

Getting started

Fantasy Freedom aggregates fantasy football projections from multiple sources — FirstDown Studio, FanDuel, and Underdog (via SportsGameOdds) — and lines them up side by side so you can spot where the sources disagree. Nothing scrapes automatically: projections only refresh when you press Go Live or Refresh.

A typical workflow: set your league settings → import or build your team → hit Go Live on All Players → check BEER+ for value → set your lineup in My Team.

All Players (projections)

Views: Season vs. Weeks 1–17

The view switcher toggles between Season totals and any individual week. Season mode uses FirstDown and FanDuel season-long lines; weekly modes aggregate all three sources. Each week has its own cached snapshot, so switching views never re-scrapes — it shows the last snapshot you pulled for that view until you refresh it.

Go Live / Refresh

Go Live performs the first real scrape for the current view. Refresh re-scrapes that view. Results are cached and shared across every page (All Players, My Team, Draft) until you refresh again.

Filtering, sorting, searching

The position dropdown filters by All, QB, RB, WR, TE, K, DST, or BEER+. Click any source column header to sort by it. The search box matches player names and teams.

Row actions

+ Team adds the player to your active team and hides them from All Players. Hide removes a player from view without adding them; Unhide All (n) restores everyone. Hidden players are excluded from BEER+ baselines, so hiding drafted players keeps the rankings honest.

Bye weeks

A small badge next to each player's name shows their bye week.

Consensus & source toggles

The Consensus column averages the sources you have enabled. Toggle FirstDown, FanDuel, and Underdog on or off in the toolbar — your choices persist and apply everywhere Consensus is used, including the lineup optimizer and suggestions. Odds-derived sources (FanDuel, Underdog) are converted from betting lines to PPR points; FirstDown publishes fantasy points directly.

BEER+ rankings

BEER+ is a value-based drafting score inspired by the Subvertadown VBD methodology. It blends a player's projected points above a rank-by-rank "man games" replacement baseline with declining availability — roughly, how much better a player is than who you'd actually find on the waiver wire at that point in the draft.

QB Streaming

QB streaming means you don't draft a high-priced quarterback. Instead, you play the waiver wire each week, starting whoever has the best matchup among freely available QBs. In most 1-QB leagues, the gap between the QB3 and the QB15 in any given week is smaller than the gap at RB or WR, so spending early draft capital on a QB is often a waste.

The QB Streaming toggle (visible on the BEER+ tab) switches the QB replacement baseline to a weekly streamer projection. When it's on, BEER+ treats the replacement-level QB as someone you can pick up for free each week, which correctly deflates QB draft value and pushes elite QBs down your rankings. When it's off, the baseline assumes you roster one QB all season, so mid-tier QBs look more valuable.

Turn it on if: your league has a deep waiver wire, you don't mind active weekly management, and you want to load up on RB/WR early. Turn it off if: your league hoards QBs, the waiver wire is thin, or you prefer a set-and-forget elite QB like Allen, Mahomes, or Jackson.

In short: QB streaming is the default winning strategy in most casual 1-QB leagues, but it's not mandatory. The toggle lets Fantasy Freedom match your league's reality.

Why baselines move

Baselines recompute over the visible pool. Hiding players (or drafting them) removes them from the pool and re-ranks everyone else, so BEER+ stays a live best-available board. League size from League Settings directly affects where replacement level sits.

Injured and suspended players are discounted before scoring (IR ×0.35, OUT ×0.85, Suspended ×0.90, Doubtful ×0.92, Questionable ×0.97), so they sink in the rankings automatically.

Injuries

Import Injuries

The Import Injuries button (All Players and My Team) pulls the current league-wide NFL injury report and stores it locally. Imported statuses appear as chips next to player names.

Manual tags

Click any injury chip to cycle a manual tag: none → Q → D → OUT → SUSP → IR → Healthy. Manual tags always override the imported status — use them when you trust beat reporters over the official report. SUSP is purple and is the right tag for suspensions; when the import detects a suspension in the feed it marks the player SUSP automatically.

What injuries affect

The lineup optimizer sorts OUT/Doubtful/Suspended/IR players behind everyone, BEER+ discounts their projections, and suggestions/concerns/trades all use the discounted values.

My Team

My Team is your roster hub. Search for players and add them, or use + Team from All Players. Rosters save automatically — to your account in the cloud when signed in, or to this browser otherwise — and persist across sessions.

The page is organized into tabs: Lineup, Roster, and Suggestions. Every tab shows the same source columns and Consensus as All Players, using the same cached snapshot.

Lineup optimizer & weekly view

Auto-Set Best Lineup

One click fills your starting slots — 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex, 1 K, 1 DEF — with the highest-Consensus healthy players for the selected week, leaving the rest on your 6 bench spots. Injured players are only started when no healthy option exists for the slot.

Weekly projections page

The weekly view shows each week's lineup with its projected PPR total, so you can scan the whole season and spot tough weeks (byes, injuries) in advance.

Suggestions, concerns & trades

Rest of Season — Top 5 Suggestions

Five available players with the highest projected rest-of-season value for your roster's weak spots.

Concerns — Falling Projections

Players on your team whose projections have fallen considerably versus their season pace — often injury- or role-driven declines worth acting on.

Trade suggestions

The trade engine finds players not on your team and computes a "fair give" — the player (or pair) you should offer so the trade is roughly even in BEER+ value — while netting you more projected rest-of-season starter points. The Playoff Trade Center focuses on Weeks 14–17: the Keep or Move table flags any starter a available option beats by 2+ playoff points, with the exact upgrade.

Multiple teams

The team dropdown lets you create, rename, and switch between multiple teams. Each team has its own roster, but they all share the same live projection snapshot. Teams imported from ESPN/Yahoo appear here too (only the teams you manage, not the whole league).

Draft board

The Draft page is a manual draft tracker sized to your league settings, with a snake board, your slot highlighted, and a live BEER+ best-available list that re-ranks after every pick.

Setup

Teams & Order opens a panel where you can rename every team and reorder the draft with the arrow buttons — slot 1 picks first, and the snake follows automatically. The order persists.

Drafting

Assign any player to any team — useful for tracking real drafts where you pick at different positions. Your picks are automatically added to your active team and hidden from All Players. Undo and Reset are available if you misclick.

Draft recap & grades

After the draft, Draft Recap grades each team's haul: a letter grade based on BEER+ surplus versus what should have been available at each pick slot, plus per-pick surplus, Best Values, and Biggest Reaches across the whole draft.

Standings

Enter your team's actual scored points each week and compare them against what BEER+ projected. Over the season this shows whether you're beating or trailing your draft-day expectations.

League settings

Set your league size (5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, or 16 teams), scoring format (PPR, half-PPR, or standard), and whether QB streaming is on. League size drives BEER+ baselines, the draft board dimensions, and the suggestion/trade engines; scoring controls how odds-derived lines are converted to fantasy points.

ESPN & Yahoo imports

ESPN

The ESPN Import page has step-by-step sign-in instructions: you provide your espn_s2 and SWID cookies (stored encrypted), pick your league, and import. Only teams you manage are added to the team dropdown.

Yahoo

The Yahoo import uses OAuth — click connect, authorize on Yahoo, and your managed teams import the same way. Re-importing a league overwrites the previous copy rather than duplicating it.

Install as an app

Fantasy Freedom is an installable PWA. On your phone, open the site and choose Add to Home Screen — it launches full-screen with its own icon, like a native app. It still needs an internet connection to load data.
